MTA NEW YORK CITY TRANSIT BUS ROUTES AFFECTED BY THE VISIT OF POPE BENEDICT XVI

During the visit of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI to New York City, there will be several street closures that will impact NYC Transit and MTA Bus local and express bus service.  Buses near locations the Pope will visit will be rerouted as directed by the New York City Police Department. 

On Friday, April 18th, bus service on the East Side, especially in the vicinity of the United Nations, will be affected.  Routes include:

M15, M27, M30, M42, M50, M66, M72 and M104

On Saturday, April 19th, bus service in Midtown, especially in the vicinity of St. Patrick's Cathedral, will be affected.  Routes include:

M1, M2, M3, M4, M5, M27, M30, M50, M72, Q32, BxM3, BxM4A&B, BxM6, BxM7&7A, BxM9, BxM10, BxM11, BM1, BM2, BM3, BM4, and BM5

On Sunday, April 20th, bus service in Lower Manhattan, especially near the World Trade Center site, will be affected. Routes include:

M6, M9. M20, M22, M30, M72, X1, X10


Also on Sunday, April 20th, there will be a Pontifical Mass at Yankee Stadium. Ticket holders are urged to take the 4 or D to 161 St - Yankee Stadium. Extra trains will run before and after the ceremonies. In addition, bus service in the Bronx, especially near Yankee Stadium, may be affected by traffic and loading delays. Routes affected:

Bx1, Bx2, Bx6, Bx13, Bx19, Bx M4A &B
.

Riders should consult temporary signs at bus stops for alternate stop locations on affected routes.  Because street closures can change at any time, additional routes may be affected.   In general, customers who rely on any of these bus routes should plan ahead and allow extra time for their commutes.
