NEW YORK (CBS) ―
With so many women looking for love, you might be shocked how long it takes for men to fall in love at first sight.
Just how long does it take for a man to fall in love?
Scientists timed it out, and many will be surprised at how fast they say it can happen.
A new study found a man can fall in love after gazing at a woman for less than 10 seconds, and that the longer he looks, the more interested he is.
If he's not that attracted, researchers say, he'll drop the gaze in about 4.5 seconds.
The study used hidden cameras, tracked eye movement, and found that it takes just 8.2 seconds for a man to gaze at a woman and fall in love at their very first meeting.
Andres and Angelica have been together three years, and say their love was instantaneous.
"I think [it took] like ten seconds," Angelica says.
Andres says he gazed at Angelica for just two seconds before he had fallen in love with her.
Jonathan Burgard and Talana Deschaies met five years ago, and say it was love at first site.
"I can remember every single thing about that day the date, the time, what she was wearing, the way her hair was," Burgard says.
"We locked eyes, held hands, and he asked me out on a date that night," Deschaies says. "So it's been a magical fairy tale."
The fairy tale is turning to marriage in just a few months.
Matchmaker Lisa Clampitt says the visual attraction is number one when it comes to men.
"I definitely think that men are visual, but I wouldn't label it love at first sight," Clampitt says. "I would label it lust at first sight."
Clampitt says it takes a lot more than physical attraction to sustain a relationship, so she encourages her male clients not to rely on looks when they're looking for love.
Clampitt advises women to be open and approachable.
"Men are so much more likely to be attracted to a woman who is super bubbly and friendly," Clampitt says. "Yes, he has to find you physically attractive. But that physical kind of chemistry also comes in the package of attitude and personality."
When it comes to women, Clampitt says they'll fall for men who are confident, successful, and funny.
The study found women will gaze at a man for the same length of time, whether she's attracted to him or not.
