Ex-Gov. Pataki Off The List Of NY's GOP Delegates

Spokesman Says Republican Bounced As State Delegate At National Convention

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) ― A spokesman for former New York Gov. George Pataki says the Republican was bounced as a state delegate supporting John McCain at the GOP's national convention.

David Catalfamo says McCain and Pataki's staff agreed Pataki would be on the Arizona senator's wish list of delegates. But Catalfamo says Pataki never expected New York Republican Chairman Joseph Mondello to keep the three-term governor on the list.

Mondello was removed from the Republican National Committee two years ago and replaced by Pataki loyalist Alexander Treadwell.

State GOP Executive Director Matthew Walter says the two incidents are unrelated.

A McCain spokesman did not return calls.

Pataki tried to keep McCain off the state ballot in the 2000 primary against George Bush.
