Republican presidential contender Rudy Giuliani will officially enter the presidential race with a formal announcement sometime in April, his campaign said Sunday.

The move is not a surprise. The former New York City mayor has said for about two months that he is a candidate and that it was only a matter of time before he gave the customary address explaining his reasons for running for president.

The campaign said Giuliani will also change the status of his campaign with the Federal Election Commission on Monday from an exploratory committee to a full-fledged presidential committee, a move that amounts to nothing more than a name change.
