Blackfive: "FOR TODAY, Wednesday 16 December 2009, many if not most, fellow milblogs -- including This Ain't Hell, From My Position, Miss Ladybug, Boston Maggie, Grim's Hall, and those participating in the Wednesday Hero program -- are going silent for the day. Some are choosing to go silent for a longer period of time. The reason for this is two-fold. First, milblogs are facing an increasingly hostile environment from within the military."
No Pasaran: "We need to send Al Gore to Edmonton to clear things up (merci à Frank)

Riehl World View: "CRU Tossed Raw Data: Global Warming Science Is Dead...The very foundation of science is that it be reproducible. These unprofessional hacks have made re-production of their work to validate their conclusions impossible. It can not legitimately be called science at all at this point. This one is from the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services...the agency that runs those programs for the government."
Blackfive: "Get your tickets now for the greatest show to hit the Big Apple in decades. Khalid "Sheik Sheik Sheik" Mohammed and several other acts will be performing on stage in federal court. You have absolutely got to be kidding me. This will be the biggest train wreck in US judicial history. How can they even be contemplating giving that reprehensible sub-human the huge protections and access to information our legal system provides defendants. The scumbag lawyers who will rush to represent him will be clamoring for information on, well..."
Victor Davis Hanson: "What Bush Inherited, and What He Left Left Behind: George W. Bush inherited a recession. He also inherited the Iraq no-fly zones, a Middle East boiling after the failed last-minute Clintonian rush for an imposed peace, an intelligence community wedded to the notion of Saddam's WMD proliferation, a Congress on record supporting "regime change" in Iraq, a WMD program in Libya, a Syrian occupation of Lebanon, Osama bin Laden enjoying free rein in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, a renegade Pakistan that had gone nuclear on Clinton's watch with Dr. Khan in full export mode, and a pattern of appeasing radical Islam after its serial attacks (on the World Trade Center, the Khobar Towers, U.S. embassies, and the U.S.S. Cole). In other words, Bush inherited the regular "stuff" that confronts most presidents when they take office. What is strange is that Obama has established a narrative that he, supposedly unlike any other president, inherited a mess."
Cassy Fiano: "The DailyKos reaction to the Fort Hood shooting is typical. Rather than sympathizing with the families of the killed or the soldiers who were wounded, or waiting to find out all the facts, they're showing an awful lot of sympathy to the shooter, and they're making up their own facts and motives. And of course, what Daily Kos diary would be complete without the resident Free Republic outrage? A few commenters tried to examine the facts and offer condolences. Most simply blamed the Army, George Bush, or conservatives, and plenty expressed sympathy for the murderer. One person even said that violence is caused by
Texas? Classy."
Mudville Gazette: "Zero Tolerance: While the Army may have fumbled the case of Major Nidal Hasan, they certainly didn't have as much difficulty dealing with CJ Grisham. CJ's crime was opposing a uniform policy at his kids' school - and writing about it on his blog."

Culture Kitchen: "Although I will take an anti-choice Democrat over an anti-choice Republican any day, I have to say that the 64 Democrats who voted for the anti-choice Stupak-Pitts Amendment are a serious disappointment. Some are expected. Some I really hoped for better and I can safely say I am unlikely to support them in the future."
Comments from Left Field: "Victory Puts Health Reform One Step Closer...History indeed, and it was passed with 39 Democratic defections and only 1 Republican Anh Cao, of Louisiana the man who replaced William "I left hid the money in the freezer" Jefferson."
Bob Cesca: "Congressman George Miller (D-CA) wins the award for best floor remarks of the night. The walk-off at the end was the best part."

Crooks And Liars: "Lieberman wants probe of 'terrorist attack' at Ft. Hood"
Oliver Willis: "These are the 39 "Democratic" members of congress who voted against health care reform. Unlike many bills in the House even bills about war this was a non-negotiable one. Not a single Democrat should have voted against this bill, not for it going too far to the left (Shuler, Herseth, etc.) or for not going far enough to the left (Kucinich). The goal of strong health care reform has been a major goal of the Democratic party for much longer than I have been alive. If you aren't going to vote for health care reform, then you shouldn't be a Dem."
Vodkapundit: "Bought Off So Cheaply...As soon as the House started the final vote for the day, Cao voted and dashed out the side of the chamber, plugging his ears in jest when reporters approached to find out what happened. According to a written statement released later that night, Cao explained that Obama had promised to help out the lawmaker's district still devastated from Hurricane Katrina."
InstaPundit: ""I would have thought that the Obama administration is at least as responsible for the US response to the Swine Flu problem as the Bush administration ever was for the New Orleans response to Katrina, but the media are not reporting it that way. I wonder how those who stood in long lines for hours only to find that there is no vaccine feel about the government's coming takeover of the entire health care system? Will the new health care system work more smoothly than does, say, FEMA? Is there any reason to think so?""(posted 11/8, 12:40 pm)

This is the program's fourth year. Four of the servicesthe Air Force, the Army, the Navy and the Marineshave, as is usual, split into fund-raising teams and of course that knuckle-dragging Army team, lead by Blackfive, is taunting the Air Force."
