High Gas Prices Reducing NYC Car Traffic

High gas prices may succeed where Mayor Michael Bloomberg failed.
Bloomberg's plan to reduce car traffic by charging drivers a fee to enter Manhattan died in Albany.

But soaring gas prices and higher tolls are now having the same effect. With gasoline at more than $4 a gallon, fewer people are driving into the city.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority says that traffic at its bridges in tunnels was down 4.7 percent in May compared with the previous year.
