CBS 2 Airs 'Design Week' Nov. 4, 1pm
NEW YORK
CBS2 HD presents "Design Week 2007," a chic and entertaining one-hour special produced by WCBS-TV in conjunction with House and Garden Design Happening, airing Sunday, November 4 at 1pm. Hosted by CBS 2 Anchors Chris Wragge and Kristine Johnson, the broadcast will highlight several of House and Garden's premiere events in NYC and feature a number of one-on-one interviews with some of the biggest design icons.
The hour captures several aspects of New York design going "green," including a fashion show focusing on sustainable fashion and furnishings, a panel of renowned architects discussing green architecture, and a look at the "green roofs" initiative. CBS2's Mary Calvi, Katie McGee, Magee Hickey, Scott Rapoport, and Alexis Christoforous also contribute to the special with several design pieces. In addition, "Design Week 2007" features an in-depth conversation and wine tasting tour with author and wine expert Jay McIneney, and also takes you inside an intimate dinner party hosted by Isaac Mizrahi and Mario Batali.
The special also focuses on design in the entertainment industry, specifically on-set designs for films-many of which were shot in New York. The set designer for Goodfellas, The Brave One, and several other New York based films provides a discussion and screening about the process of designing the perfect 'look' for a film. Additionally, CBS2 HD takes you behind the scenes of the "Broadway Backstage" event hosted by the set designer for the hit Broadway show "Hairspray," David Rockwell. CBS2 HD captures Rockwell as he gives a tour of the "Hairspray" sets, offers access to watch the show, and provides dinner at Nobu 57, for which he is also the designer.
Furthermore, "Design Week 2007" includes a tour of Gracie Mansion, along with an interview with interior designer Jamie Drake, who is responsible for the restoration and redesign of the "People's House." A one-on-one tour with Real Estate Royalty Elizabeth Stribling is also included, where she presents New York's most stunning multi-million dollar properties.
