CBS 2 Proud To Broadcast 'Tunnel To Towers' Run

1-Hour Special Honors Fallen Heroes Of 9/11

NEW YORK CBS2 HD is proud to once again honor the fallen heroes of 9/11 by sponsoring and televising the Stephen Siller "Tunnel to Towers Run" for the third consecutive year on Sunday, September 30 at 10 AM. This 5K Run is held every September in honor of New York City firefighter Stephen Siller, and all first responders, who perished during the World Trade Center attacks. CBS 2 Anchors Chris Wragge and Kristine Johnson host the hour-long special and report live from this moving event along with special reports from Brendan Keefe and Lou Young. The special also includes Dana Tyler's engaging interview with Sally Siller, Stephen Siller's widow, in her first extended television interview.

It will be streamed live, and archived for future viewing on demand, on wcbstv.com.

On 9/11 Siller was en route to play golf when he learned of the attacks on the World Trade Center. Unable to drive through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel and in an act of sheer bravery and heroism, Siller abandoned his vehicle, donned 75 pounds of firefighter gear and ran through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to help his fellow firefighters at the World Trade Center site.

The special will capture all the highlights of this inspirational Run, and includes live interviews with actor John Turturro and Rudy Giuliani who are scheduled to appear live at the event. The Siller family keeps Stephen's memory alive and honors all of those who lost their lives that day by holding this annual Run. Retracing Siller's steps, some firefighters run through the tunnel in full gear just as he did, while other firefighters line the walls of the tunnel with flags and poster-sized photos of the heroes lost. Also lining the tunnel and holding flags are construction workers who will honor the 61 construction workers, welders, and iron workers who died on 9/11.

Since its inception six years ago, the attendance at the "Tunnel to Towers Run" has doubled each year. This year over 20,000 people are expected to participate. The "Tunnel to Towers Run" is a charity event for the Stephen Siller "Let Us Do Good" Children's Foundation, and  is produced in conjunction with the the NYC Department of Transportation, FDNY, NYPD, MTA & TBA and others.
