Brauer Promoted To VP, Creative Services, WCBS-TV
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
Emmy Award-winning Creative Director Bruce Brauer has been promoted to Vice President, Creative Services, WCBS-TV. The announcement was made today by Peter Dunn, President and General Manager, WCBS-TV.
Brauer previously served as Director of Creative Services at CBS 2 since December 2005. Among Brauer's many responsibilities, he directs the marketing of the WCBS-TV news operation, oversees the production of all on-air promotion, radio/print design and advertising, and produces the overall scenic, music and audio design for the station. He is also responsible for the station's advertising budget and a creative staff of over 20 people consisting of editors, designers, writers and producers. Brauer and his team also created the WCBS-TV HD package which launched in an impressive 112 days.
"Bruce is a huge asset to our management team and has vastly improved the look of our broadcasts, promos, and overall scenic design for the station," said Dunn. "He has brought our promotions up to a new level of quality and production standards, and has helped turn CBS 2 into the most efficient in-house creative boutique in the market."
Previously, Brauer was the founder/creative director of Little Siberia Inc., a broadcast design company specializing in on-air promotions, ID's, launch campaigns, commercials and mnemonics. He has also directed film, video and web projects involving major talents and a prominent client list including HBO, American Express, Lifetime Television, Cinemax, CBS, ABC, and NBC. Prior to Little Siberia, Brauer spent seven years at WNBC-TV, first as a Senior Graphic Designer and was later promoted to Design Director. His career began at the High School of Art & Design in Manhattan.
Brauer is the recipient of 21 Emmy Awards and 59 Emmy nominations. The New York State Broadcasters Association also awarded Brauer for Outstanding Promotional Announcement in '97,'98,'99 and he received Gold and Silver Promax Awards in '98, '99 2000 and 2002. Brauer also won the BDA Bronze and Silver Awards in '94 and '95. His work was featured in the design reference book PAINTBOXED and he received Regional Design Excellence Awards from Print magazine in '92, '93, '95,'96 and '99. Brauer also received an International Monitor Award in 2001 for the Moviefone website redesign.
Among Brauer's many accomplishments is an impressive background in music. He was co-founder, songwriter, and lead guitarist for the band Dog Society, for which he successfully secured a record contract with East/West/Atlantic Records. Brauer is a member of The Art Directors Club of New York, BDA/Promax, AIGA and NATAS.
Brauer is an alumni of The School of Visual Arts and the Fashion Institute of Technology with a concentration in advertising. Born and raised in NYC, Brauer currently resides in Westchester with his wife and two children.
