WCBS-TV Presents 'At The Met With Dana Tyler'
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
WCBS-TV is proud to present "At the Met with Dana Tyler" on Sunday, April 29 at 11:00am. This half-hour special takes you inside the opening of The Metropolitan Museum of Art's expansive new Greek and Roman Galleries.
The seven large galleries are the culmination of a 15-year project to redesign and reinstall the Museum's extensive collection of classical art. "At the Met with Dana Tyler" features an impressive overview of the new galleries, including 6,000 works of art from the Hellenistic, Etruscan, Southern Italian, and Roman periods and an in-depth interview and room by room tour with the Curator in charge.
This half hour also highlights several exciting elements surrounding the new galleries including the high tech touch screens designed specifically for the exhibition. Also featured are the prominent Greek and Roman fashion trends in the ancient times, from elaborate hair-dos to gem-heavy jewelry. In addition, "At the Met with Dana Tyler" takes a look at how the fashion industry today continues to be influenced by the Greek and Roman periods.
Another part of the special explores the restoration process of these new galleries and features interviews with skilled artists currently working at The Met. The artists discuss in detail how they restore antiques that are thousands of years old, from frescos to marble statues to ancient sarcophagi.
