WCBS-TV Gets World Exclusive With 'Son Of Sam'

NEW YORK (CBS) ― WCBS-TV captures a world exclusive sit down interview with David Berkowitz, best known as the "Son of Sam," which airs in a three-part series starting Monday May 7th and continues on the 8th and 9th at 11pm.

In what marks the 30th anniversary of Berkowitz's terrorizing serial murders in NY, CBS 2's Chief Investigative Reporter Scott Weinberger speaks with Berkowitz in a surprising and revealing sit-down interview at the prison where Berkowitz is being held in upstate New York. Only in this three-part series will viewers hear new developments about the case, revealed by Berkowitz himself.

Now a born-again Christian, Berkowitz expresses how he has found God and how the religious re-birth has changed him dramatically. He also goes on the record for the first time about his communication with Neysa Moskowitz, the well-known mother of his last murder victim Stacy Moskowitz, who had forgiven him right before her death in September 2006. Only CBS 2 has the exclusive letters that were exchanged between the two.

Weinberger also speaks with Lt. Coffey, the detective who took Berkowitz's detailed confession. Coffey discloses the specific details of the confession and in his own words describes the horrific events that occurred that summer. Also appearing in this three-part interview is Berkowitz's prison guard from Attica, who reveals how he felt Berkowitz's face was the face of pure evil, but also truly believes that he has now found God.

WCBS-TV's captivating interview with the 44-Caliber Killer airs ONLY on CBS 2 News.
