WCBS-TV 2nd In Households For 3rd Straight Sweeps

NEW YORK (CBS) ― WCBS-TV continued its impressive ratings increases finishing as the No. 2 station in households in sign on/sign off standings for the third straight major sweep period.

The 5 and 6 p.m. newscasts were strong during the May sweep, finishing in second place in both adults 25-54 and households for the 5 p.m. newscast, and in adults 25-54 for the 6 p.m. newscast. The CBS flagship station has also shown year-to-year growth every month in the 4-8 p.m. block since September 2006.

WCBSTV.com has also shown outstanding year-to-year growth in page views this May sweeps period, up a whopping 336 percent compared to the site's page views in May sweeps 2006. The Web site also posted a 265 percent increase in visits and a 292 percent increase in unique visitors year-to-year.

CBS 2's May highlights included:

• CBS 2 News at 5 p.m. anchors Kristine Johnson and Chris Wragge finished in second place delivering a 1.3 rating in adults 25-54, more than double the ratings for WNBC's "Live at Five" and "News 4 You". CBS 2 News at 5 p.m. also placed second in households with a 2.9 rating.

CBS 2 News at 5 p.m. posted year-to-year growth of 44 percent in adults 25-54 and 32 percent in households.

• CBS 2 News at 6 p.m., anchored by Dana Tyler and Jim Rosenfield, also finished in second place and averaged a 1.2 rating in adults 25-54 (among English-language stations)

CBS 2 News at 6 p.m. posted year-to-year growth of 20 percent in adults 25-54 and was the only New York station from the three major networks to show year-to-year growth in households.

• "CBS 2 News This Morning," anchored by Maurice DuBois and Kate Sullivan delivered year-to-year growth of 9 percent in households, the only New York station from the three major networks to show growth.

"CBS 2 News This Morning" at 6 a.m. had year-to-year growth of 33 percent in adults 25-54 and 21 percent in households.

• CBS 2 News at Noon delivered year-to-year growth of 14 percent in adults 25-54.

• At 3 p.m., "Dr. Phil" finished in first place in households with a 2.9 rating and placed second in adults 25-54 averaging a 1.1 rating

• At 4 p.m., "Judge Judy" finished second in households (3.4 rating) with year-to-growth of 26 percent and also finished second in adults 25-54 with year-to-year time period growth of 22 percent.

• At 7:00 p.m., "The Insider" showed year-to-year growth of 17 percent in households (2.8 rating). "The Insider" was also the only program in its time period to show year-to-year growth in households.

• At 7:30 p.m., "Entertainment Tonight" tied for second place and posted year-to-year growth of 3 percent in households (3.3 rating). "Entertainment Tonight" was also the only program in its time period to show year-to-year growth in households.

• At 11:30 p.m., the "Late Show with David Letterman" was the only program in its time period to show year-to-year growth in households with an increase of 12 percent.
