Persaud Named Public Affairs Manager, WCBS-TV
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
Sharon Persaud has been named Public Affairs Manager for WCBS-TV, effective July 23. The announcement was made today by Peter Dunn, President and General Manager, WCBS-TV.
In her new position, Persaud will serve as WCBS-TV's liaison with community and business leaders, manage the scheduling and broadcast of the station's public service announcements, and will produce all public service announcements for station-sponsored community events. She will also create and develop community outreach projects and public affairs campaigns on behalf of the station.
"Sharon has already done a fantastic job in the Creative Services arena for the station," said Dunn. "With her people skills and vast knowledge of what this position already entails, she will be able to efficiently address the needs and concerns of our viewers while attending to important community issues."
Previously, Persaud served as an Associate Producer for Creative Services at WCBS-TV, where she wrote, edited and produced daily promos for CBS 2 News. She also scheduled promo shoots and managed PSA inventory. Prior to that, Persaud served as Promotion Coordinator for Creative Services at WCBS, and started her career at WLNY/TV 55 in Melville, NY in the Promotion Department.
In her spare time, Persaud serves as vice president and teacher at B.B. Production Dance School in the Bronx, where she teaches all levels of dance and makes radio appearances for school events such as fundraisers and concerts.
A graduate of Hofstra University, Persaud received her B.A. in communications, with a major concentration in television/video production and a minor in graphic arts. She currently resides in Queens, NY with her husband.
