WCBS-TV Hires Valerie Feder As Asst. News Director
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
Valerie Feder has been named Assistant News Director for WCBS-TV, effective July 23rd. The announcement was made today by Peter Dunn, President and General Manager, WCBS-TV. As Assistant News Director, Feder will oversee the day-to-day editorial direction of the CBS 2 newsroom and newscast production.
"Valerie is a very experienced television journalist," says David Friend, Vice President and News Director, WCBS-TV. "She's been a winning Assistant News Director and creative producer in large, successful television news departments and is a terrific addition to our strong management team here at CBS 2 News."
Feder comes to CBS 2 from VAF Television Consulting in Los Angeles where she served as an executive producer, writer and media consultant for some of the world's largest media and internet companies such as Yahoo!, Fremantle Media, Endemol USA, Weller/Grossman Productions and Warner Bros. Entertainment. She previously served as Executive Producer for KABC-TV's 11PM newscast in Los Angeles and as Executive Editor for the news department at KIRO-TV in Seattle. Before that, Feder served as the Executive Producer and Assistant News Director at KING-TV in Seattle.
Feder started her career as a Researcher in WBBM-TV's investigative unit in Chicago. She then went on to work at stations such as WLS-TV in Chicago as a Political Field Producer, and served as a News Producer at WTVT-TV in Tampa, WAGA-TV in Atlanta, and WABC-TV in New York.
A graduate of Northwestern University in Chicago, Feder earned a M.S.J. degree from the Medill School of Journalism and also attended Colorado College where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy and history. No stranger to the tri-state area, Feder grew up in Westchester, NY and Bergen County, NJ and currently resides in Manhattan.
