CBS 2 HD Helps Run Breast Cancer Out Of Town

'Race For The Cure' Airs Saturday, Sept. 8

NEW YORK (CBS) ―

In the hour, several notable figures such as First Lady Laura Bush, CBS News Anchor Katie Couric, Actor Richard Roundtree, and Olympic Gold Medalist and former figure skater Peggy Fleming discuss the importance of celebrity advocacy in raising funds for breast cancer research, as well as share why the cause means so much to them.

Also in the special, CBS 2 Medical Reporters Dr. Holly Phillips and Dr. Max Gomez present the medical facts and statistics of breast cancer, along with details on the new and innovative treatments and reconstruction that are available. In addition, Kristine Johnson, Tamsen Fadal, Katie McGee, and Cindy Hsu delve into breast cancer support groups, literature and art created by breast cancer survivors, new wigs and fashions for survivors, and the best ways to deal with the children of breast cancer patients. Dana Tyler also interviews courageous breast cancer survivors who recount their stories of fear, encouragement and hope. "Race for the Cure" also takes an intimate look at the CBS family itself and reveals how breast cancer has affected some of its' members.
