CBS 2 Shows More Growth, On-Air And Online, In May

NEW YORK WCBS-TV has finished the May sweep with its 5 a.m., 5 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts in second place among households. The CBS Flagship Station also finished as the No. 2 station in the market in households, both in primetime and sign-on to sign-off ratings.

Coinciding with the success of CBS 2's broadcast programming, WCBSTV.com continues to show tremendous growth and is the fastest growing local TV news web site in the New York market. For the period January 1 through May 21 (the end of the May sweep), WCBSTV.com received more than 83 million page views, a 130 percent increase compared to the same period in 2007. The site also averaged more than 2.2 million unique visitors per month during the first four months of 2008.

CBS2 HD's May highlights included:

-- CBS 2 News This Morning" at 5 a.m. finished second in households and delivered year-to-year growth of 29 percent. "CBS 2 News This Morning" at 5 a.m. was the only newscast in its time period to increase year-to-year in homes.

-- CBS 2 News at 5 p.m. finished in second place in households with year-to-year growth of 21 percent and was the only newscast in its time period to show year-to-year growth.

-- CBS 2 News at 6 p.m. finished a strong second in households and was the only 6 p.m. newscast with year-to-year ratings growth

-- CBS 2 News at 11 p.m. finished in a tie for second place in households and was the only late newscasts that didn't decline from last May's average.

-- At 3 p.m., "Dr. Phil" finished in first place in households.

-- At 4 p.m., "Judge Judy" finished in second place in households with year-to-year growth of 5 percent.

-- At 7 p.m., "The Insider" finished second in households and increased by 4 percent versus last May.

-- At 7:30 p.m., "Entertainment Tonight" finished second in households.

-- On Sunday morning, "The McLaughlin Group" debuted on CBS 2 this month and gave the station year-to-year time period growth of 100 percent in households.
