Good jeans are essential for a look that's slim and trim, but we're not talking about what's in your DNA. You can get that sleek look from jeans -- the denim variety.
The latest fabrics and styles in denim have been specially designed to flatten your tummy, lift up your bottom and shape your thighs to help look like you've dropped a size. So forget costly and invasive cosmetic procedures. Just slip on a pair of jeans for a sleeker look at a fraction of the cost.
"It absolutely has so much to do with technology and a lot to do with fit," trend tracker Shaye Strager said.
And here's the proof: CBS 2 HD looked at one model wearing her own jeans and then a brand appropriately called, "Hello Skinny Jeans."
"They actually made the thighs of the jeans scooped out, which drastically separates and slims the thighs," Strager said.
So instead of lipo, you can spend about $200 for the clever placement of inseams.
"The inseams are drawn foreword, which makes it seem like there is less real estate on the front of these jeans," Strager said.
And the design also works to reduce the rear view, too.
"The pockets are perfectly placed to make the bum the most flattering to the eye," Strager said.
And if you're looking for a flatter stomach, one model traded in her jeans for a brand called "Not Your Daughter's Jeans."
"And what they have done is incredible lift-and-tuck technology in the jeans that actually enhances the mid area of the jean, lifts you up, lifts your rear end up and you can see almost how it's tucking the bum under," Strager said.
"And in the back you can see how its almost tucking the bum under."
The solid dark color, as well as a higher rise on the waistband, also gives the illusion of a sleeker silhouette. No tummy tuck necessary.
And the technology is available in corduroy, too.
"These are the most flattering to the body and I think they do make you look a size smaller," Strager said.
For a sportier look, Lee jeans has the $42 answer for jeans instead of surgery.
"These jeans are made with extra stretch so they create a custom fit. And what they've also done the rise and the side seam are positioned to give the ultimate slimming effect," Strager said.
And gentlemen, designers didn't forget you either.
"So what they have done here is they've add a great type of whiskering effect on the jean and also they've added extra material, almost padding, here outside of the zipper," Strager said.
"I think the men that we've asked to try these jeans were surprised at how good they looked, but I don't think they actually thought they needed them at first, but everyone in the back of the mind was like, oh."
