Jets rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez seems to be the complete package -- athletic skills, maturity, good looks and a good nature. The ladies sure seem to agree.
CBS
He's the new star of the New York Jets and he's got quite a following.
Mark Sanchez is making headlines with his winning ways and turning heads with his good looks.
So what's it like being a football hottie?
At 22 years old Sanchez is a young gun that's come blazing into New York.
Armed with skill, confidence, charisma and charm, the Jets' rookie quarterback has become the next big thing to hit the Big Apple.
Forget what he can do on the field for a second. There's no escaping the fact he's already a hit with the ladies, turning some instantly into football fans for reasons that have absolutely nothing to do with throwing passes and scoring touchdowns.
Just listen.
"His body, his hair, his face
" one woman swooned to CBS 2 HD before nearly needing to be resuscitated.
"That No. 6
he is so sexy. Oh my God!" added Nagee Bowe.
"He's pretty hot. I think I'd watch football, basketball, hockey, ice skating, if he was in it," said Amber Chapman of Washington Heights.
Sanchez told CBS 2 HD he's not fazed by his new surroundings.
"That's just the way it is around here. You play quarterback in New York and you get a lot of attention," he said.
Before hitting the gridiron for Gang Green, this $50 million man covered the spread on the pages of GQ.
"Oh that butt. I can't miss it," one woman said.
And only recently has the popular pin-up made his commercial debut as a famous face for Toyota, sharing the screen with Giants quarterback Eli Manning.
"He looks like JFK Jr. I think he's good looking," Jill Schneider said.
"He's like stunning!" another woman said.
The golden boy's good looks and infectious personality brought undeniable comparisons to legendary Jets quarterback Joe Namath. But Sanchez said you'll be hard pressed to find him stepping out on the town as the new "Broadway Joe."
"We've deferred a lot of interviews and extra things that I could have been doing and just focus on football," Sanchez said.
When asked if he feels there's the potential for distraction, Sanchez quipped, "Maybe in the city but I'm in Jersey."
Sanchez is familiar with the pressures to perform in the limelight. The third generation Mexican-American and California native was considered the top quarterback in the nation coming out of high school in 2005, and was the star quarterback at the University of Southern California, before landing with the Jets as the fifth pick in the 2009 draft.
"I think this young man can handle it. He's been the number one quarterback in the country for years," Jets coach Rex Ryan said.
As Sanchez supporters get better acquainted with the man dubbed the "Sanchise," his biggest fans still have one question.
"Is he single?"
He's not married, but the quarterback cutie was recently caught getting cozy with USC schoolmate and Jersey girl Jennifer Mueller.
So Sanchez still has plenty to prove before "Sanchise" becomes a household name. But he's already made quite an impression and won the hearts of many, and his career has only just begun.
Sanchez does have his critics, however, especially after his first regular season loss to New Orleans this past Sunday.
He'll try to redeem himself next Monday night in Miami when the 3-1 Jets take on the Dolphins.
