'Princess Chunk' To Do NYC TV Talk Shows
Enormous, 44-Pound Cat Found Wandering Around In New Jersey Being Held At Camden County Animal Shelter
Owner Has Until Saturday To Claim Her Or Risk Adoption
BLACKWOOD, N.J. (CBS) ―
Here kitty kitty
very large kitty. Two television talk shows are reportedly welcoming the latest fat cat to come to New York, and according to a spokesperson close to the newest American celebrity, she's accepting offers.
The huge mass of feline flesh, all 44-pounds of her, is looking for a home -- and maybe an agent.
Officials at the Camden County Animal Shelter are calling her "Princess Chunk." The shelter has been looking for her owner and trying to get the cat on a diet.
The original owner has until Saturday to reclaim her before the kitty is eligible for adoption. The cat was found outside, without a collar, in Voorhees.
Shelter volunteer Deborah Wright told The Courier-Post of Cherry Hill "Chunk" is built like a quarterback.
She's so "purrfectly" big, the animal shelter had to weigh her on a doggie scale. She's only a couple pounds lighter than the heaviest cat on record. The largest tabby on record weighed 46 pounds, 15 ounces. That cat, who lived in Australia, died in the 1980s.
Two television talk shows have invited the latest fat cat to come to New York. She's scheduled to appear Thursday on "Live with Regis and Kelly," according to the show's publicist.
And the animal shelter says she'll be on "Good Morning America" Friday.
