CBS 2 HD Has Tricks For A Slimmer Look

If You Aren't On A Diet But Want To Look Like You're Losing Weight, We Have Hairstyle And Makeup Suggestions

NEW YORK (CBS) ― From hairstyles to makeup tips, CBS 2 HD has the techniques that will have your friends asking, are you losing weight? So whether or not you're counting calories or working on a weight loss plan, we have some tricks to slim down your body.

With the stroke of a brush, simple makeup tricks can change the softness of a round face to one with flattering contours for a thinner appearance.

"The thing that needs to be told to you is what products to correct or to bring out or to hide a specific look on your face," makeup artist Jim Crawford said.

One expert said to start with the basics: a moisturizer with reflective properties will diffuse the light. Try a multipurpose foundation that's a concealer, too.

"Match it to your neck or jaw line," Crawford said.

The trick to looking thinner here he said is apply it in the center of your face and move out from there.

The same is true for highlighting beads, concentrating the color on the forehead, nose and chin.

"You can actually use it on the bow of the lip because the light will make it look longer than what it is," Crawford said.

And check out the technique of using a darker-toned powder and vertical strokes by the hairline.

"You apply it from the temple, all the way down to the jaw line," Crawford said. "It creates a shadow in here so it actually starts to darken it down."

And it works by the nose, too.

"It just helps to narrow the very center of the face," Crawford said.

An arch in the brow will draw the eye up, mascara will make the eyes appear wider and color applied to the center of the lips will focus the eye there.

"It's about rebalancing your face, taking the fullness from one area and putting in another," Crawford said.

And the same principles apply to hairstyles.

"Soft outer edges will really compliment and slim down a face," hairstylist Patrick Crawford said.

Correctly redistributing the fullness in any style will balance hair and body.

"Creating the volume here, it gives the illusion of a slimmer line," Melville said.

Melville said tight curls with added shine create a look that elongates the neck. And in some cases, all that's need is a subtle change in color and cut.

"It adds a lot of softness around the face and attracts you to her face and brings it up. It's also slimming for her," Melville said.

Finally, a flattering style for long hair will gently frame the face. And adding
some loose curls gives it great movement and shine.

This just gives it a soft, sexy feel and balances her out and really proportions her well. Full figures are beautiful, very sexy," Melville said.

Another slimming hairstyle tip is adding height at the crown, or, try a center part to make the shape of your face appear longer.
