A unique dream mansion is up for grabs in East Hampton. The $40 million home is the latest creation of the Hamptons' builder for the rich and famous.
"I have never gotten compliments like I've gotten from this...people see it and they can't believe it."
The 12,000 square foot home on Georgica Pond in East Hampton is the latest work of art from Jeffrey Collay.
"We have a lot of celebrities living on Georgica Pond. Steven Spielberg, Ron Perlman, Courtney Ross. There's a lot of very influential people living on this street. It's a top address," said Collay.
CBS 2's Megan Glaros took a look into this majestic home: Thirty-foot ceilings in the great room with floors modelled after Versailles, complete with 700-year-old oak from the South of France, and that is just the beginning.
From the modern $65,000 stove, to the floors from the 1930's made of black walnut to the imported French fireplace; the home spans the finest of many countries and many centuries.
"These fireplaces are from Louis XV. They are 18th century fireplaces," Collay told Glaros.
Nearly all the wood in the home is made of black walnut from a forest wiped out by blight in the 1930's.
"You can't even find it so to try to go out now and try to replace it...it's irreplaceable," said Collay.
The library on the first floor is made entirely of black walnut! Fourty french doors open to the terrace, complete with infinity pool and spa and gorgeous views of the pond on two acres. The view is similar from the second floor master suite, which is 2,000 square feet.
"The square footage cost of the home is the most expensive home I've ever built and it's the most complicated and detailed home I've ever built," said Collay.
The home itself used to be an art studio for Stanford White. Collay picked the home up and rotated it 90 degrees for a better view of Georgica Pond. Only one other home is visible across the pond and it used to be owned by Martha Stewart.
