Passengers in the United States are coping with heightened security and flight cancellations at airports Thursday after authorities in London uncovered a terror plot aimed at airlines traveling from Britain to the U.S.

A top British police official described the plot as "intended to be a mass murder on an unimaginable scale." The plot involved blowing up several airplanes that would be en route to the United States from Britain over the Atlantic Ocean. An armed officer stood guard outside Terminal 4 at London's Heathrow Airport after the terror plot was foiled. (AP)
