On May 25, 1961, President John F. Kennedy said, "I believe that this
nation should commit itself to achieving the goal,
before this decade is out, of landing a man on the moon and returning
him safely to the earth." On July 20, 1969, the goal was achieved when
Apollo 11 commander Neil Armstrong and Lunar Module pilot Buzz Aldrin
