A crane mounted to the side of a skyscraper under construction toppled
and smashed into a block of apartment buildings Saturday, killing at
least four people and setting off a scramble for survivors in the
towering piles of rubble.

A big, white crane that stood 19-stories high demolished a four-story brownstone as it fell. Three other buildings were damaged by the falling wreckage.
