Fantasy Football Stars Of Yesteryear

With the rise of personal computers and the Internet in the late 1990s, the participation in and popularity of fantasy football increased to the level of prominence it holds today. However, it is believed this American obsession started as far back as the early 1960s. WCBSTV.com Senior Sports Producer Jeff Capellini has run his own eight-team league for the past 13 years and has seen his fair share of great players. Now, some of these players are no-brainer NFL Hall of Famers, but others had brief flashes of brilliance before flaming out. If you were lucky enough to have some of these players you probably won your league's championship as Jeff has five times since 1996. Fantasy owners will always wonder how great Steve Young could have been if he hadn't first gone to the USFL and then played caddie to Joe Montana for so many years in San Francisco. Still, when he finally became the starter he put up huge fantasy numbers as both a passer and runner.
