The reaction of the celebrity gossip blogosphere: "Yes, we knew." Rumors began circulating a few years earlier when a gay escort claimed he'd had a rendezvous with Aiken in a North Carolina motel room and had saved DNA evidence. Aiken, who played in the Broadway hit "Spamalot" in 2008, had remained silent about his sexuality until the People magazine revelation.
