Leyritz Arrested For Alleged Domestic Battery

Former New York Yankee Jim Leyritz was arrested on domestic battery charges early Thursday morning in Davie. Leyritz is currently awaiting trial on DUI manslaughter charges from a deadly 2007 car crash.
The domestic battery charges on Thursday morning allegedly involved Leyritz's ex-wife, Karrie Leyritz. She accused Jim Leyritz of hitting her in the face twice. The dispute allegedly arose from a check Karrie Leyrtiz had written.
The run-up to the DUI Manslaughter trial has been surrounded by controversy for Leyritz. In May, an electronic monitoring device reported that Leyritz had alcohol in his system. The electronic monitoring device was put in his car to prevent Leyritz from driving drunk.
But, a judge ruled the machine had made an error and would not face any penalty for the false test report.
Jim Leyritz is set to go to trial for the manslaughter charges on September 14.
