'Supersuite' Planned At New York's Renovated MSG

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Madison Square Garden's renovation will cost more and take longer than originally planned.

The owners of the nation's busiest sports arena say the entire project will cost more than $500 million, and the complete renovation will be finished by the start of the 2012-13 NBA and NHL seasons. Officials had hoped to have the renovation to all levels done a year earlier.

Officials unveiled new drawings and mock-ups of luxury suites for the 41-year-old arena. The renovated arena would include a 5,000-square-foot "supersuite" to entertain up to 300 people.

MSG officials say the arena won't disrupt the New York Knicks and New York Rangers' seasons because most work would be done during the summer. Officials didn't say when construction would begin.

The Garden has also been the home of boxing fights, concerts and the WNBA's New York Liberty.
