Jeanine Pirro's Husband Caught Driving 98 MPH
NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. (CBS/AP) ―
Albert Pirro, husband of state attorney general candidate Jeanine Pirro, has been ticketed for driving his Mercedes-Benz 98 miles per hour in a 55 mph zone.
The speeding ticket is just the latest of several embarrassments Pirro, 59, has caused his ambitious wife, the former Westchester County district attorney and now the Republican candidate for attorney general. He was in federal prison for tax fraud during her last re-election campaign and he fathered an illegitimate daughter after they were married.
Anne Marie Corbalis, a spokeswoman for Jeanine Pirro's campaign, said Wednesday she had no comment on the speeding ticket. A message left at Albert Pirro's office was not immediately returned.
Albert Pirro, 59, of Harrison, was northbound on Interstate 95 in New Rochelle when he was pulled over by a state trooper on July 2, according to a ticket filed Tuesday in City Court. In an e-mail to The Journal News, he said he had pleaded not guilty. He is due in court on July 31.
The maximum penalty for driving more than 30 mph over the limit is a $600 fine and 30 days in jail. In addition, because Pirro is accused of going more than 40 mph over the limit, he faces suspension of his license if convicted.
