Amazon.com Selling Grocery Items
SEATTLE (AP) ―
Amazon.com isn't just for books and music any more.
The Internet retailer says it's now running an online grocery store that sells items ranging from household products to organic food.
Among the more than 1,200 brands offered are products from Nestle, Kellogg, Kraft, and Procter and Gamble. Roughly half of the merchandise being sold by Amazon is natural or organic, from brands like Annie's Homegrown, Wild Oats and Newman's Own.
In an effort to attract new business, Amazon is offering first-time customers a ten-dollar instant rebate on grocery purchases of $49 or more.
Grocery purchases above a certain level qualify for free shipping.
