Mayor Michael Bloomberg opposes restricting the air space around Manhattan for small planes.
Bloomberg has been a recreational pilot for years, and says the airspace rules are safe. He believes flying regulations should only be the concern of the FAA.
The mayor says the FAA has to balance security. He says the association has the ability to control planes. It is responsible for keeping one set of planes away from the other, and has to worry about what's on the ground and what's in the air.
The mayor says people have the right and the ability to use air as part of the transportation system.
