Bronx Child Killed By Stray Bullet Laid To Rest

Was Shot On The Way To Easter Sunday Mass

by Tanya Rivero
BRONX (CBS) ― The Bronx two-year-old killed on his way to Easter Mass one week ago was laid to rest today as family, friends and scores of strangers attended the funeral to wish the boy farewell.

Two-year-old David Pacheco was killed last Sunday by a stray bullet.

"He was real good, an angel, you know, a real sweet kid, always come to the house, play around with my little son," said family member Richie Fontanez.

Inside the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, the pastor railed powerfully against gun violence, saying , "God is sick and tired of our weapons...in the name of God get rid of these weapons." The pastor's words resonated strongly with Ida Jimenez, a supporter of the family.

"It's true what he says, they should keep guns off the streets--period," Jimenez said." The same way they do with drugs, they should do with guns. There should be a law about the guns, that's how I feel."

Nicholas Morris, one of the suspects wanted by police in connection with the Easter shooting, turned himself in Tuesday. Police are still searching for Morris' alleged accomplice, Ronell Gilliam.
