Children who have died in last year in homes that had been known to New York's Administration for Children's Services:
Sharllene Marillo, 2 Sharllene died of blunt-force trauma to the head, resulting in brain hemorrhaging, days after being brought unconscious to the hospital. The ACS had visited her Bronx home some six weeks earlier after a day care provider helped report suspected abuse, but found "no solid evidence." Her mother's boyfriend will face a homicide charge, police said.

Abuse Reported To ACS Before Toddler DeathQuachaun Brown, 4 Quachon was found dead on Jan. 30, 2006, in a filthy apartment with no heat and no food. Police said there was evidence he had a fractured skull and a damaged liver. The ACS had visited the apartment in November and deemed it "in order." Quachon's mother faces a manslaughter charge; her boyfriend was arrested on a second-degree murder charge.

Cops: 4-Year-Old Murdered Over A Knocked-Over TV Nixzmary Brown, 7 Nixzmary was molested, tortured and beaten to death on Jan. 11, 2006, by her stepfather, prosecutors said. The ACS has acknowledged that reports of her suffering were known by it and other agencies. Her mother and stepfather have been charged with multiple felony counts, including second-degree murder.
CBS 2 In Depth: ACS And The Nixzmary TragedyDahquay Gillans, 16 months Dahquay drowned in a bathtub on Nov. 6, 2005, after his mother left him unsupervised, authorities said. His mother, who had been on probation after the May 2004 scalding of his half brother, has been charged with manslaughter, reckless endangerment and endangering the welfare of a child. The boys had been placed by ACS in foster care while their mother took parenting classes. They were reunited with her because of a family court order.
Mother Who Scalded Tot Faces New ChargesSierra Roberts, 7 Sierra died on Oct. 25, 2005, after her father slammed his knee into her abdomen and beat her with a belt, prosecutors said. Sierra, who had been in foster care since birth because she and her mother tested positive for cocaine, was returned to her father four years before she died. After she was treated for a broken leg in 2003 and a doctor said she had suffered a spinal injury months earlier, the ACS investigated but accepted her father's claims she had been hurt in accidental falls.
