Temperatures To Hit Around 90 Sunday
Severe Weather Possibility Remains Throughout Tri-State
NEW YORK (CBS) ―
The boiling temperatures that have plagued the tri-state area most of this week will lessen a bit on Sunday, but the possibility of severe weather remains.
Temperatures in the mid to upper 90s were the norm throughout the day Saturday. However, CBS 2 HD's Elise Finch says the mercury will drop a bit on Sunday, with highs throughout area expected to hit only 90.
Hail up to to 2 inches in diameter, with thunderstorm wind gusts to 70 mph and dangerous lightning remain possible in parts of the tri-state area.
Saturday marked the fourth consecutive day of heat in the tri-state. Finch says temperatures may not get back to normal -- as in the mid 80s -- until Tuesday.
That means it's wise to turn up the air conditioning -- or head to the shore where temperatures are expected to be cooler.
An excessive heat warning is in effect for Mercer and northwest Burlington counties into Sunday.
