There was nothing cool about an apparent battle for customers between rival ice cream men in Fair Lawn.

Police believe one of the drivers slashed himself in a bid to ice the competition.

But things didn't add up when officers questioned Nabil Abdallah Wednesday. Police said the wounds appeared self-inflicted.

Police also discovered Abdallah and Abdulaziz Hammoud had a confrontation on Saturday. Hammoud said his rival had thrown a cup of coffee at him and threatened him with a box cutter.

Police say they plan to charge Abdallah with filing a false police report.
