Jesse Jackson Urged To Pay Fine For Using N-word

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― The owner of a comedy nightclub in Los Angeles says the Reverend Jesse Jackson should pay a fine for using the N-word during a break in a TV interview.

Fox News has confirmed the civil rights leader used the slur when he criticized Barack Obama.

Jamie Masada of the Laugh Factory notes that Jackson supported the idea of fining comedian Michael Richards when Richards shouted the N-word at a black patron two years ago. Masada says unfortunately, Jackson has "broken his own principles."

Comedians who use the N-word at the Laugh Factory must pay $50 each time. Masada thinks Jackson should pay the same amount to the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles.

Jackson apologized in a statement earlier this week for "hurtful words" but didn't offer specifics.
