Following Thursday's train derailment and collision in Queens, many commuters were concerned their Friday commutes would be in jeopardy. The good news is the Long Island Rail Road announced that it expects to have on-time trains running throughout the Friday commute.
Two LIRR trains collided in Queens, at the Jamaica station Thursday morning. Authorities say none of the 300 people on board the trains needed to be hospitalized, though at least 20 were evaluated by medical staff.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority warned that customers should expect up to 30 minutes of residual delays during the evening rush. Eleven trains in all, including seven out of Penn Station, were canceled or combined with others as a result, causing major traffic frustrations.

The accident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. when the last two cars of an eastbound train derailed, hitting another eastbound train on an adjoining track, in what authorities described as a 'low speed collision.'
The train that derailed is the 9:35 a.m. train from Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn, scheduled to arrive Hempstead at 10:28 a.m. The second train involved in the collision is the 9:34 a.m. train from Penn Station to Huntington.
"I was in the second car, I'm on my way back to school, and the car was really bumpy, and all of a sudden brown smoke came out," said Keturah Abdullah, a passenger on the train. "I was just really nervous on the train, but everybody was ok
A full-scale investigation into the collision is underway.
