L.I. Dentist Arrested For Inhaling Laughing Gas

SMITHTOWN, N.Y. (AP) ― A Long Island dentist has been arrested for inhaling laughing gas.

Suffolk County Police arrested Doctor Norman Rubin of Shirley and charged him with inhalation of hazardous inhalants, a misdemeanor.

Police were called to Rubin's Smithtown office yesterday afternoon, by a patient who found the dentist in apparent distress.

Police and emergency medical technicians learned that Rubin had been inhaling nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas. After being treated, Rubin was arrested. The dentist was later freed on bail and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 13.
