More Mayors To Join Fight Against Illegal Guns
NEW YORK (AP) ―
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Boston Mayor Thomas Menino said 37 more mayors have signed on to fight illegal guns. They join the 15 who convened in New York in April for the first Mayors Summit on Illegal Guns.
At the summit the mayors signed a resolution to combat gun violence and said they hoped to pressure the federal government and state legislatures to strengthen anti-gun laws.
New additions to the coalition include the mayors of Chicago, Atlanta, Baltimore, Houston and Miami.
