Train Service Suspended After Death On Tracks

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) ― Part of the Northeast Corridor was shut down to Amtrak and NJ Transit trains for about an hour as authorities investigated a death on the tracks.

NJ Transit spokesman Dan Stessel said an Amtrak train out of New York struck and killed a person trespassing on the tracks in the New Brunswick area shortly before 2 p.m. Sunday.

All passenger train service between the Trenton and Metropark stations was shut down for about an hour due to the death.

Even as train service resumed, Stessel said NJ Transit trains traveling from New York to Trenton would skip the Edison and New Brunswick stations as the investigation continued.

Stessel didn't immediately have more details about the death.
