Poll: 80%To Cut Vacation Plans Due To Gas Costs
ALBANY (AP) ―
A poll shows most New Yorkers will cut back on their vacations because of high gas prices that are also making some fall behind paying their bills.
The Siena Research Institute poll finds 80 percent of New Yorkers plan to cut back on the amount they spend on their summer vacation because of gas prices.
The Siena College poll also says 14 percent say they are behind on their bills because of the rising fuel prices.
And nearly three-quarters support a cut in the state's 30-cents a gallon gas tax despite looming budget deficits.
Half of New Yorkers say they are cutting back on restaurant dining and a third are delaying home repairs, which could worsen an impending recession.
