Report: NYPD Horse Unit Getting Kicked Out Of Home
NEW YORK (AP) ―
The New York Police Department's horses are looking for a new home.
The New York Post says the NYPD's mounted unit is being kicked out of its Manhattan headquarters to make way for a park. The 21 horses stationed at the West Side facility have no place to go.
The Pier 63 facility at the Hudson River and 23rd Street has more police horses than other stables and boasts an indoor riding track.
But the police department has to leave to make room for construction on a new park. The NYPD moved in three years ago and knew the space was temporary.
