PATH crews worked through the night and into the pre-dawn hours to re-open the Christopher Street Station in time for the onslaught of rush hour commuters.
Service was suspended in both directions Wednesday afternoon because of signal and power cable damage caused by a small manhole fire east of the Christopher Street Station.
There were no injuries, but many frustrated commuters.
"I didn't get an alert to my job or my cell phone," said Rosalind Baker. "I thought they were back in service but to my surprise they were not."
"Normally it's fairly reliable, but what are ya gonna do?!" added Bill Westey of Tuxedo Park.
PATH service was fully restored at 6:12 Thursday morning, and will resume its normal schedule.
