Alleged Fake Firefighter Indicted In Ohio Robbery
NEW YORK (AP) ―
The man accused of posing as a firefighter and sexually abusing a Manhattan woman on Halloween night last year, has been indicted on a robbery charge in Ohio.
Assistant D.A. Maxine Rosenthal reported the indictment during a status hearing in Manhattan's state Supreme Court where Peter Braunstein pleaded not guilty to charges of arson, kidnapping, burglary, robbery, sexual abuse and assault.
The 42-year-old Braunstein is a former writer for Women's Wear Daily. He's accused of posing as a firefighter so he could get into the home of a former colleague.
Once inside the Chelsea-area apartment he tied the 34-year-old woman up and sexually abused her for some 13 hours starting on the night of October 31st, 2005.
One of Braunstein's lawyers, Robert Gottlieb, notified the court in May that his client would offer a psychiatric defense.
