Portable Music Players Could Be Filling With Porn

Sexually Explicit Talk Becoming A Popular Download For Portable Music Players

(CBS) Internet radio shows are nicknamed "Podcasts" because they can be downloaded right to your iPod. Just like you can download music, you can also download news, sports, and even sexually explicit talk, which is why many parents are becoming concerned.

Some podcast shows have titles like PodPorn and Whorecast. They mix commentary with graphic stories -- so graphic, we can't put them in writing. One of the most popular Podcasts is by Violet Blue, an author and sex therapist. She said on her show that her program is not porn, just because it's about sex.

"Sex Podcasting at least at this time has to have substance to interest people and when was the last time you saw a porn video with any substance in it?" says Violet Blue.

But 11-year-old Jessica Trivizas' Mom is concerned about what her daughter is listening on her iPod. She wanted her daughter to listen to the explicit podcast so she would know right from wrong.

"I didn't understand half of it, but the other half that I did understand, I really wouldn't want to listen to again," said Jessica.

17-year-old Zach Devlin downloads music, not Podcasts. His father Bill Devlin is with the Urban Family Council. He makes sure he and the other kids in the house can't download explicit material.

"It's a corrosive influence on the individual that's either looking at it or listening to it," said Bill Devlin.

If you want to block explicit content from iTunes, there are parental controls right in the program. You can also download blocking software -- some of it is free.
