Rosh Hashanah Holiday Getaway Info

Holiday Travel: Planes, Trains & Automobiles Guide

NEW YORK (CBS) ― Starting at sundown Wednesday, Jews around the world began to observe the holiday of Rosh Hashanah.

Usual security precautions are in place at city synagogues as Jews celebrate the New Year.

Rosh Hashanah also marks their most solemn period of the year ending with the high holy day of Yom Kippur -- "The Day of Atonement."

Traditional foods on Rosh Hashanah include challah and apples dipped in honey to symbolize wishes for a sweet new year.

For the early getaway, the commuter rails are adding additional service. Click on the link below for more information.
