Lawsuit Filed Over 'Shocking' Camera Suspension
NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) ―
A federal lawsuit has been filed challenging the 10-day suspension of a 14-year-old student at a Clinton school for an alleged homemade Taser-like device.
The student at Morgan School is accused of tinkering with a disposable camera to make it capable of zapping people with an electrical charge.
Police say the student was arrested April 1 at school for attempting to demonstrate the shock that could be delivered by a modified camera.
Attorney Norman Pattis says police searched the boy's home looking for guns and bomb-making equipment. He says someone has a highly overactive imagination.
School Superintendent Albert Coviello has declined comment.
