Street Vendors Protest Crackdown
NEW YORK (CBS/AP) ―
Street vendors in New York are upset about increased confiscation and ticketing they say police have carried out in recent weeks.
Interest group Street Vendors for Justice is organizing protests today.
The group is urging passage of a new bill that will remove caps on vending licenses and food cart permits.
They are also demanding that the health department halt their sweeps against vendors until the City Council decides on the legislation.
