OMG! MTA To Start Texting System Alerts To Riders
NEW YORK (AP) ―
The Metropolitan Transit Authority is jumping on the technology train.
The MTA is planning to start a program in September for riders to get system alerts about service problems via text messages or emails.
The push for the program was heightened by an August storm last year that shut down much of the subway system and portions of the Metro-North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road commuter lines and left riders with little to no information.
