For months, A-Rod has been on his A-game but he's become infamous for slumping through the post season. This year, however, fans are hoping that girlfriend Kate Hudson can turn him into the new Mr. October.
A-lister Kate Hudson has been dating A-Rod for months. Albert Lee of US Weekly said at first it looked like a summer fling, but now it has legs.
"They've been hanging out all summer. She's met his kids, his two daughters with Cynthia, and Kate has
basically been on the road. She's like a Yankees roadie. She's like an
honorary member of the Yankees wives club," Lee said.
Wives and fans are loving what's happening on the field. In the last game, A-Rod hit two home runs and 7-RBI's in one inning, an American League record.
He made it through the steroid controversy and a tabloid circus with Madonna, but WFAN's Ed Randall doesn't credit Kate Hudson for the new man. "This year, the fact that he had what was a career-threatening injury which side-lined him for about six weeks, the fact that he had a nightmare that he wasn't going to at all play in 2009, plus when he came back he came to understand that he could embrace the group, that he didn't have to be special and that he could play with joy and we've seen that."
Fans are mixed on how big of a role A-Rod's new squeeze is playing on the field. "He's tackled so many obstacles in his professional career, I think he's doing well. I don't think she has any impact on his current status," Gilbert Rodriguez, Morris Park Resident.
"He might be happy. Any good relationship you're happy and it does affect you but I think it's just him being A-Rod and trying to get his game back together," said Sharon Shaw, Bed-Stuy resident.
"If you've got someone who's got a level head, looking focused and stuff like that, yeah you do well," said Greenwich Parfait of Newark. "Of course, you always need a woman by your side."
Whether it's Kate Hudson or not, Yankee fans say whatever A-Rod is doing it's working and they just hope it continues. As far as the relationship heading down the aisle anytime soon, US Weekly's Albert Lee, says don't hold your breath.
